First, we would like to let you know that we were working on some updates on our website, due to which it was not available for sometime. We apologize for any inconvenience caused during the last few days. The Queen’s Gambit is a popular chess opening that starts with the moves 1.d4 d5 2.c4, and when Black plays 2…e6, we enter the Queen’s Gambit Declined, as Black declines to capture White’s pawn. One interesting variation in this opening is the Janowski Variaition, which happens after White’s 3.Nc3 (or 3.Nf3), and Black’s 3…a6. Black’s idea is to capture the pawn on c4 with 4…dxc4 and then play 5…b5. This is a universal opening idea, so it can be used irrespective of what White plays. In both 3.Nc3 and 3.Nf3, Black can continue his plans with this line. This is suitable for both blitz/rapid and classical games. This opening variation is also suitable for players of any level. Watch the instructive video lesson of this opening variation by our guest coach IM Asaf Givon: Below, you can find this entire variation: P.S.
