Viridian City is a small city located in western Kanto. It is home to the Viridian Gym, which can only be challenged by the player once they have obtained the Badges of the seven other Gyms of Kanto. The Gym Leader is Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket and a Ground-type expert. The city has three exits. To the north is Route 2, divided into two by Viridian Forest and leading to Pewter City. To the south is Route 1, leading to Pallet Town. To the west is Route 22, leading to the Pokémon League Rec
