Title Page Character(s): Ippo Makunouchi, Ryō Mashiba The Tōhō gym boxers are surprised that the retired Ippo landed two shots on Mashiba. They get confused when Itagaki holds up three fingers. Ippo thinks how it went almost exactly as he imagined. Mashiba and the Tōhō coach notices Ippo is keeping himself at a distance rather than rushing forward. Mashiba starts to throw a Flicker Jab.
